Banarasi Silk Trail
To the weavers’ homes for real Banarasi silk — no touts, no showroom mark-ups, no regrets. A host takes you to the loom, not the tourist shop.

Banarasi silk is one of India’s great crafts and one of its most faked. The showrooms near the ghats sell power-loom copies at handloom prices; the real thing comes from weavers’ homes in the old weaving quarters, where a single sari can take weeks on the loom.
We take you to trusted weavers — you see the loom, learn to tell handloom from power-loom, and buy (or don’t) with no pressure and no commission games running in the background.
It is as much a lesson as a purchase: you will never look at “Banarasi silk” in a mall quite the same way.
What we arrange
- A visit to a trusted weaver’s home or workshop — not a tout’s showroom
- A host who negotiates fairly and takes no shop commission
- How to tell genuine handloom from power-loom before you buy
Added to your stay — our team shares the current rate when they call to confirm your booking. No online payment.
Good to know
- No obligation to buy — it is a genuine visit, not a sales trip.
- Real handloom Banarasi is not cheap; be wary of “silk” at throwaway prices anywhere.
- Ask our front desk to arrange a convenient time.
