About 15 minutes by auto or a long riverside walk.
Assi is calmer and more open than the central ghats, famous for the morning “Subah-e-Banaras” — sunrise aarti, classical music and yoga on the steps.
Pair it with a dawn boat ride upriver and you can watch the whole ghat line wake up as you glide back toward Dashashwamedh.
Local tip
For Subah-e-Banaras arrive by 5:30 AM in summer / 6:00 AM in winter. A one-way boat from our nearest ghat to Assi is a memorable way to start the day.
